New Reef found for Divers in Gran Canaria

When we got back from the Medas Islands, oneof the first projects we worked on was to help the world famous Shark photographer, Andy Murch, to get a reference set of photos of Angel sharks, to add to his popular website, elasmodiver.com

In the course of this we were following an angel shark into an area we had never explored before, thinking it was all sand, and then suddenly we found ourselves on a new reef we had not expected. This volcanic reef only stands a few meters out from the sand, but what surprised us were the seven marbled electric rays that we found within a very small area on the reef. We used this as the name .. Electric Reef, and have visited it a couple of times with variable success in logging these small and elusive rays.

So if you are coming diving in Gran Canaria and think you have done all the sites, then think again, we have a new reef to explore!
