Davy Jones Diving welcomes new Dutch Instructor

Davy Jones Diving, The PADI 5 Star Dive centre in Gran Canaria has expanded by adding Raymond Hermans to the team.  Until recently Raymond was running one of the leading dive centres in Dahab in the Red Sea, where he was highly respected and taught both PADI and IANTD courses.  Raymond brings fourteen years of dive instructing experience to the centre, as well as being fluent in Dutch, German and English.

We have always had a lot of Dutch and German customers, and with thee addition of Raymond we now have two staff members who speak Dutch, four who speak German, as well as English and Spanish from most members of the team.  "We are a very international team" said Brian Goldthorpe, owner of Davy Jones Diving, "and with the combination of excellent diving and language skills we will be able to offer our customers new levels of support and customer service".

Raymond will be developing the 'Gran Canaria Duiken' side of our website, to update it and highlight the rich diversity of Marine Life that we find here in Gran Canaria.

Raymond joins after a year of developments at Davy Jones Diving, which started with a move at the start of the year into one of the most relaxed and spacious dive centres in the Canaries, 'Casa Limon' in Arinaga.   The 400 square metres of space include both indoor and outdoor areas, sun and shade, a dedicated kit-up area and a large secure equipment store.

The Arinaga area is one of the most prolific areas for marine bio-diversity and marine life in the Canary Islands, according to a recent study undertaken by the University of Las Palmas.  The study, organised by Fernando Espino from the Bioges group at the ULPGC concluded that the Arinaga-Gando area is one of the best places to see nearly the whole of the spectrum of marine life in the Canaries, although fishing over-exploitation remains a problem.
